Outrigger vs Vault Holsters, which is right for your:

The Outrigger is designed to stay in your pocket during a draw. When you use the thumb push-off and the retention panel, the pocket hook almost never comes into play. The only thing coming out of your pocket is your pistol in your hand.

The Vault is designed to stay in your pocket as well, but not as reliably so. It is a convenient choice, a one-piece unit that uses our prominent thumb push-off and includes an inset friction panel to help keep it in your pocket. But the inlet friction panel can’t retain the holster as reliably as the panel of the Outrigger. So there is the possibility of the holster following the pistol out during a fast draw, particularly if you don’t use the thumb push off.

Both holsters are capable of a slow, deliberate draw in a “wait your turn” situation. Both holsters let you make a fast draw if needed. But if keeping that holster in your pocket is a high priority, the Outrigger is the winner. If you want a convenient one-piece holster and are less concerned with where the holster ends up during a fast draw, then the Vault is a great choice.

The Outrigger’s detachable panel can also help camouflage your pistol, making it look like a wallet or paperback book, depending on what size pistol you use. The panel can be trimmed if you prefer a less angular look to your holster’s appearance in your pocket.

The Vault’s panel is inset into the holster to help preclude edge peeling. Thus, it is not something that can be altered, though it can be removed if the user prefers.
